COVID Certificate Check: Official App for Validating COVID Certificates in Switzerland
COVID Certificate Check is the official app developed by the Federal Office of Information Technology, Systems and Telecommunication FOITT on behalf of the Federal Office of Public Health for checking COVID certificates in Switzerland. This free app allows users to validate whether a COVID certificate issued in Switzerland or the EU is valid in Switzerland.
The app is easy to use. With just a click of a button on the home screen, the smartphone camera is activated and ready to capture the QR code. The captured QR code is automatically checked against Swiss validity rules. The result is immediately displayed on the screen. A tick and a green background indicate that the presented certificate is valid, while an exclamation mark and a red background indicate that the presented certificate is not valid. If the check fails, a question mark and an orange background will be displayed.
The app also displays the full name and date of birth of the certificate holder, which can be compared with the identification document presented. Data protection is a top priority, and the data concerning COVID certificates and checking processes is not stored. COVID certificates are protected by a digital signature, making them forgery-proof. The app is subject to Swiss law and can only be used in Switzerland.
